Latest Location
Monitor the location of your mobile workforce to track the progress of work, redeploy workers to where they're needed, and identify efficiencies.
What is "Latest Location"?
If the "Latest Location" feature is enabled with your solution, your SoloProtect lone worker device or personal safety app will send periodic location information to SoloProtect Insights. Managers can then access this information to oversee the location of mobile colleagues.
The information is presented on an easy-to-view map and managers can either view the location of multiple people all at once or on an individual basis.
Accessing an end user’s location not only allows managers to get credible information about a worker’s whereabouts, but it also displays their working status and device battery life.
How does Latest Location work?
SoloProtect lone worker devices are equipped with geolocation technology. Therefore, if user location information would be useful to your organisation from a safety and/or operational perspective, a SoloProtect lone worker alarm can periodically send location data to SoloProtect Insights to be accessed by those with the appropriate authority.
However, if the Lastest Location feature isn’t activated as part of your solution, the only time user location information will be used is in the event of a genuine alert. When a call comes through to our Alarm Receiving Centre, operators can access the user's location information, along with any information provided by the user as part of the Check-In process, and pass it on to the relevant emergency services to ensure a swift response.
Benefits of Latest Location functionality
1. Track the progress of work
Jobs that require a worker to take a specific route or to go to pre-determined locations (e.g. delivery drivers, surveyors, field sales, meter readers) can be easily tracked via SoloProtect Insights. The map view shows their latest location and hence whether your worker is on track to meet all appointment deadlines or to make all deliveries.
Quickly identify potential issues and take the necessary steps to resolve them e.g. calling customers with a revised time of arrival or redeploying another worker to assist (see below). Not only can a lone worker safety solution keep your employees safe, but it can also help to keep your operation moving and your customers happy!
2. Redeploy workers to where they’re needed
Latest Location information can assist resource managers to redeploy workers efficiently. For example, if a gas engineer was taken ill and needed to clock off early, Latest Location information could be used to ascertain which other engineers are closest and could potentially pick up additional jobs.
3. Proactively identify efficiencies
The Latest Location feature isn’t just about adapting to changes as they happen. It can also help you to proactively identify efficiencies. This could be smarter routing or more effective allocation of jobs, for example.
4. Know when your workers have arrived home safely
You can use the Latest Location and Working Status features in parallel to know when your employees have made it home safely after a shift, providing ultimate peace of mind for managers and health and safety representatives.
